Library
Everyone can use the library's collections, services, and public spaces. As a customer of Hämeenkyrö’s library, you have access to the materials of all libraries in the Pirkanmaa region, i.e. PIKI libraries. In order to use a library, you need a library card. Your first card is free, but subsequent ones cost two euros. You can use the library independently on weekdays from 8:00 AM. to 11:00 AM.
Borrowing and returning items can be done using the self-service machines, and reservations can be picked up from the pickup shelf. Customer service starts at 11:00 AM. From the menus below, you can explore the principles related to library services in more detail.
Hämeenkyrö Library is located inside the Multipurpose Center Silta.
Address: Kyrönsarventie 16, 39100 Hämeenkyrö
Library card
PIKI libraries share a common library card, meaning you can use the same card at any PIKI library. The library card is personal, and you are responsible for any materials borrowed with it. Those under 15 years old need a guardian's permission to obtain a library card, and the guardian is responsible for materials borrowed with the card.
Always notify the library if:
• Your address or name changes.
• Your library card is lost.
You can apply for a library card in the traditional way by visiting the libraries directly, or you can apply for a library card electronically using the library card application form. The form requires strong authentication. You can pick up the ready card from any PIKI library three working days later. Remember to bring your ID.
Borrowing and returning
The loan periods for materials are generally 14 or 28 days. The loan period for VIP books is 14 days. You can check the due dates of your loans by logging into the online library or contacting the library. Loans can be renewed if there are no reservations on them. Renewals can be done through the online library or by contacting the library.
Reserving items from Hämeenkyrö's own collection is free, as long as you remember to pick up your reservation. A fee of 1 euro is charged for unclaimed reservations. Regional reservations from other PIKI libraries cost 2 euros. Reservations can be made online or during service hours by contacting the library.
Reservations can be picked up independently from the pickup shelf using the number shown in the pickup notice. Please remember to borrow the reserved item using the self-service machine or at the customer service desk!

Myllykolu museum
The birthplace of Finland’s only Nobel-prize-winning author Frans Emil Sillanpää, who was born in Hämeenkyrö on September 16, 1888, is now maintained as a museum. The Hämeenkyrö Museum and Local History Association purchased the cottage in honor of the author's 70th birthday in 1958, and it was opened as a museum in 1962.
The Myllykolu area also features a summer theater, which began operations in the summer of 1972.
